This memoir by his sister-in-law paints a vivid portrait of one of the twentieth century’s greatest artists.
Elsa Triolet was well placed to document the unconventional lifestyle (Mayakovsky lived in a menage a trois with Triolet’s sister and her husband), the joys and problems of her friend, Mayakovsky.
She explores, too, the reasons why his life was cut short – and was it by his own hand? – aged just 36.
